It's Cold Outside Baby!

Brrrrrrr... the weather is changing fast!  But you know, I actually like it : )  Of course, I would rather have the sun shining and cooler weather at the same time cuz grey isn't my favorite color!  However, it is good for my 'personal summer' heat waves I get since having a hysterectomy last year.  Wow!  In just a couple of days, it will actually be 1 year.  How time flies...  God has been merciful to me though.  Since I can't take hormones (breast cancer survivors shouldn't take them) menopause symptoms haven't been that bad.  At least I haven't had some of the horror stories you hear about.  It's no big deal!  If you are one of those horror stories, I am so sorry you are going through that :(

I have the cutest Snowman to share with you today!  I just adore him :)
This is my card for Paper Romance Challenge #22.  The image is by Laurie Furnell for High Hopes and can be purchased at Paper Romance Here.

He's colored with copics:  B05 B02 B01 B00; C9 C7 C5 C1; R24 R22 R20.  The heart on the mug and portions of his scarf have been stickled lol!  For textured snow, I used a combination of 3D Glitter Gel and Polar White Flower Soft.  Cool, huh?

Here's a close up of the pleated ribbon which is the Paper Romance Challenge this week!  I'm also showing you the snowflake which has been 'iced' with Platinum Inka-Gold and then 'iced' a second time with the 3D Glitter Gel.  A beautiful crystal rhinestone in the center finishes it off!

Challenges Entered:
Digi Doodle Shop's Best - anything goes
ABC Challenge - Glitter
Simon Says - Punch 'em
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Let's Get Punchy
Papertake Weekly - Sparkly and Bright
Craft Your Passion - Glitter/Sparkles

... and *hanging my head and blushing* I have two other cards for Paper Romance which I haven't posted yet!!!

This card was for the button challenge last week...
This image is also by Laurie Furnell for High Hopes called, Angel Bear Holding Kitty.  You can find it Here.

I decided to color her dress to match the dp!  Copics I used are:  E57 E55 E53 E51 E50; W5 W3 W1; G28 G24 G21 G20; YR02 YR01 YR00.  The wings got a nice thick dusting of Glamour Dust and the bow and flowers got the stickle treatment!  Her nose received a drop of Diamond Glaze for shine and texture.

The corner pearls were made with my Cream Paper Pen.  LOVE my paper pens!!!  Paw adorned buttons in threes for the challenge (last week) and it's ready to roll!

... and last - I know (phew!)  but think of what I'm going through trying to get this done before it's time for me to get up LOL!!!

Here's my card which never got posted for the cream, orange and black Paper Romance Challenge!!!

This is called Laurie's Pumpkin Patch by... you guessed it - Laurie Furnell for High Hopes!!!

Yep... I did some sewing on this one!  Colored with copics and accented with Stardust Stickles and Diamond Glaze.

Sorry for the shortness of this one... it's waaaaaay past my bedtime.  If I don't go to bed, I won't get up in time to workout and I'll be hearing it from my workout buddy who will be all alone......... yikes!!!

Thanks for hanging in there with me : )

I'll see you soon, my beautiful friends!  I love you ♥

I am honored to be able to introduce you to Winter Walk by Carmen Medlin for SCACD...

Isn't she a beauty?  As usual, I've colored her with copics:  E49 E44 E43 E42 E41; BG18 BG13 BG11 BG10; E35 E34 YR21 YR20; E11 E21 E00 R20.  Can you see the shine on the dp?  Each of those cute little reindeer have a coat of Diamond Glaze on them!  The dp by Memory Box Tinsel Collection is beautiful on it's own, but I wanted to do a little more...

Don'tcha love the snowflakes?  They are Maya Road Chipboard pieces.  For the upper left snowflakes, I used Gold Inka-Gold (I know that sounds funny, but there are different Inka-Gold colors!) to make them nice and shiny.  After I glued them together, I accented the top snowflake with Viva Decor Turquoise Pearl Pen.

Here's a close-up of the image...  Can you guess what product I used to accent the oval?  You can also see a portion of the lower snowflake which is also covered with...

It's just like 'regular' Flower Soft, but has a very SPARKLY color to it.  You know how much I love bling anyway, but this product is especially great during the holidays : )  I also have it in silver lol!

For a touch of bling on her blouse, scarf and little birdie, I used Viva Decor Glitter Liner.  I basically just 'colored' with it, laying down a thin coat of glitter.  A coat of Diamond Glaze on her boots and she's ready for any weather!

Ooooh, more fabulous pearls in turquoise in the upper right corner as well as on top of the Inka-Gold and Flower Soft which covers the small snowflake.  Oh so sparkly!

Many of us have family or friends touched by breast cancer and all of us want to encourage all of you to check yourself!

This hop will take you around the world, so please sit back with your morning coffee or evening tea and celebrate our stories and projects with us. Some of your fellow crafters along the hop are even offering blog candy! Please give a little comment love to each and every crafter along the way. We hope you enjoy our hop, and most of all we all want YOU to give yourself the greatest gift and do a self-check tomorrow. The more you do it, the more breast aware you will be!

My Story...

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on April 26, 2007.  I had begun routine mammograms when I turned 40 as my doctor suggested.  Although I hated going, I owe my life to EARLY DETECTION!  No, I did not feel a lump.  I had no idea until I received the phone call to come in for a biopsy and the looooooong awaited phone call to see if it was cancer.  At my first appointment with the surgeon, I was told that if I had to have breast cancer, I had the 'best' kind.  It was very early and could be treated without chemo.  I know that God had His hand upon me before, during and now all the days of my life...

The following days, months and years were difficult ones.  Because my mammograms were difficult to read with fibrous tumors, the ultimate decision was made to remove both breasts.  There were three known cancerous spots in both breasts and I had lumpectomies to remove those, but instead of having radiation therapy, a double mastectomy was my fate.  I am very grateful for that decision because pre-cancerous cells were found in my right breast which meant that I would have had to go through this all over again in the future!

You know that nothing is guaranteed in this life... Only God knows about our tomorrows.  He has radically changed me because of breast cancer.  Would I make the same decision to remove both breasts again? You bet!  I still have insecurities...but I'm alive and I've had three years now to get used to this old body lol!

When I made the decision to remove my breasts, I knew that I would not have reconstructive surgery, but that I would be a 'symbol' to others of the LOVE of God!  What???  Yes!  I mean that!  He has saved my life both physically and spiritually.  I possess the JOY of the LORD ♥  How can I look like I do (I am the ultimate flat-chested woman) and still have JOY?  All because I know my Savior, Jesus Christ!  He makes ALL the difference - I love Him so much : )

Have you made the decision to follow Jesus?  My sincere prayer is that you will take this opportunity now.  What will happen tomorrow????  Don't let it be too late!

For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:40

But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name
John 20:31

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
Romans 1:16

God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.
1 Corinthians 1:9

If you are ready to confess that Jesus died for your sins; that nothing or no one else can save you... pray with me:

Jesus, I acknowledge that You took the punishment of my sin (past, present and future) for me.  I deserve to pay the price, but in Your Mercy, You died for me!  Please forgive me for trying to do things my own way.  I confess that I am lost without You!  Thank You for making a way for me to be right with God and now I can KNOW that I am saved and will live for all eternity with You in heaven.  In the Powerful Name of Jesus, Amen!

Please let me know if you've prayed this prayer so I can rejoice with you!  My email is on my sidebar.

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Romans 10:9-10

Life can be such a roller coaster ride, don't you think?  One minute you're up and anticipating the thrill of the ride, then without much notice, you're down...screaming your head off LOL!!!  This has been my crazy life which seems forever.  We've especially had some ups and downs with our almost 4 year old puppy dog.  My last update for him was that he didn't have use of his hind legs.  I also said that unless God intervenes and heals him, this would be his life.  Well... God showed up!!!  Yes He did!  As is usual, He is ALWAYS faithful - thank You, Jesus ♥  Sammy is now up and literally running.  I can't believe it... but it's true!  I took a video of him on my phone 'running' (well, more like sliding hee hee!) across the kitchen floor to catch an ice cube (one of his favorite things).  He also can now go potty outside which is a HUGE thing!  We were forever cleaning up messes - whew!  He's still a little wobbly and sometimes just falls down, but he's using all four legs again - yippppeeeeee!!!  He reminds me of a baby who is just beginning to walk... toddle toddle toddle PLOP! lol  Thank you so much for joining me in prayer for Sammy.  I am forever grateful!  I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I DO know Who holds tomorrow : )  As is each of our lives, God knows the exact day and time He will call us home.  I pray that you have received Jesus as your Savior so that you can spend eternity in heaven with me.  This is my sincere prayer ♥

Finally... here's my project for ya today!  Bet you thought I'd never get here...

This is Flowers for Mom by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD mini Sampler Edition #1.  Isn't she sweet?  I began with stamping this cutie with Memento Ink on Cryogen White paper.  I reached for my fave copics for coloring.  Clothing and flowers - RV99 RV95 RV93 RV91; Skin - E11 E21 E00 R20; Hair - E35 E34 YR24 Y21; Leaves - G28 G24 G21 G20; Wagon - E18 E17 E15 E13 C9 C7 C5; Bear - E55 E53 E51; Flower pots - YG03 YG01 YG000.

For the 'must have' bling, I've stickled her headband, pant cuffs and flowers.  How do you like the sewing?  I'm trying to remember to incorporate this into my cards more often.  I really enjoy the way it adds to the cards...

A first for me!!!  I colored a length of white ribbon to match my card.  I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was.  I chose a middle tone of the RVs I used to color the clothing.  I used the chisel end of my copic marker and let dry for about 10 minutes.  I'm sure you don't have to wait that long, but I didn't want to take any chances lol!  To the yummy ribbon, I attached a sweet little butterfly - I just loveee butterflies : )

Sentiment by My Time Made Easy, stamped with Versafine Ink in Vintage Sepia.  For the finishing touch, I've added another 'must have' which are pearls!!!  Yes, one of my most favorite products in the whole world... Opal Paper Pen by Viva Decor.  I have recently added three new colors to my stash lol!!!

Challenges Entered:
Incy Wincy - Lace and Pearls
Penny's - So long as it flies (Radio Flyer Wagon! Butterfly charm!)
The Paper Players - Ann's Recipe

That's my little project today... I hope you liked it : )

It's Clay Time!

Yes!  I've finally used CLAY!  I've been wanting to get my hands 'dirty' with clay for the longest time.  Even though there's not a lot of it on this card, I soooooo enjoyed it :)  You can get your own clay Here.  It's super lightweight and easy to work with as it air dries!

Since there's not a whole going on with this card, I'm sure you can spot what I'm talking about.  I think it turned out pretty good.  I asked my hubby if the clay pieces resembled nuts and bolts and he said yes, so that's good enough for me!  After I molded the clay pieces and let them dry, they received a coat of Viva Decor Platinum Inka-Gold.  I wanted a darker silver color, so I topped that with Silver Leafing Pen.

Pretty cool, huh?  This is Spyder by Victoria Case for SCACD, mini Little Acorns Set.  He's colored with copics:  BG75 BG72 BG32; C9 C7 C5 C2.  Easy!

Take a look at that spider on his hat... Diamond Glaze makes him pop out - ewwwwww!  His eyes and shoes also got a nice coat of Diamond Glaze.  Not much to fuss about on this one.  Quick and to the point, just like the males in my household lol!!!!!!

These fabulous papers are from BasicGrey Oliver Paper Pad.  I love this collection!  It was hard to choose which design to use first!!!  To grunge the paper a bit, I've 'distressed' the edges with Viva Decor Platinum Inka-Gold.  This is very cool stuff.  It's a metal gloss paint that can be applied with a sponge, but I used a paint brush to 'dry brush' the edges of the paper.  Gotta get me some more colors lol!  I hope you've enjoyed my card today : )

Have You Heard?
  • A little bird has also told me that there is a NEW artist coming to town!  I am SOOOOO excited!!!  You know that means some fabulous new stamps - yipppppeeeeeee!

Well... it's (again) waaaay past my bedtime.  My brain has gone to bed without me!  So, I'll see you again very soon.  I have a handful of cards ready to post - yay!

May God bless you, keep you and comfort your soul ~

SCACD Sale and Shopping Alert!!!

Hello my special friends!  I'm back for the zillionth time after being swamped with 'life'...  My poor little puppy dog is still not doing well.  He is such a trooper though.  He is learning that he can still get to where he wants to go by scooting across the floor.  I am both excited for him and also saddened.  The vet will be happy to do surgery for his injuries which has caused his hind legs to become paralyzed for the whopping price of $4 to 5 THOUSAND dollars.  Uh.... no.  The last thing we are now trying is to give him steroids twice a day, but this has caused him to vomit - in our bed no less - yuck!  Well, there's much more I can say on this subject, but that's really the bottom line.  Unless God chooses to heal him physically so he can walk (which He is more than able to do!) he'll spend the rest of his life scooting around and his front legs will be so strong - Super Doooooogggg!!!

I DO have some cards on the way for your viewing pleasure... but not just yet.  Until then, I have some exciting news!  Thank you, Dianne, for letting me use your post on this SHOPPING ALERT! (I give you total credit!!!).  Go check out her blog for some awesome inspiration!!!

SCACD SHOPPING ALERT !!!
OK... I'm off to see what to make for dinner, go to a meeting, then go to my last meeting for the evening - whew!  It's no wonder I've been missing a lot lately.  Can someone please stop the ride?  I would like to get off... LOL!

I love you ♥

A Gift For You!

Hello my friends... and Happy Thursday!  I've just returned from my First Place 4 Health meeting.  It was just three of us this week and we had so much fun!!!  Did you know that laughing is wonderful for your health?  I think I must have burned enough calories laughing to lose at least another pound lol!  Yesterday, I ate a TON of veggies.  I do enjoy them, but for lunch I had this humongous bowl of Waldorf Salad.  Sounds yummy, huh?  Well, this particular recipe started out fabulous.  One small apple, 1/2 cup celery, 2 oz. low-fat cheese and 2 teaspoons low-fat mayonnaise.  Mix that together and taste... yum!  Here's where I think I made a mistake.  Shred 2 cups red cabbage and add apple mixture.  So I get it all mixed up and sit down to eat. And eat... and eat... and eat!  It must have taken me half an hour to finish the bowl.  It did look like a lot, but there's next to nothing as far as calories.  So what's the problem you ask?  It wasn't until tonight that I realized that I had shredded green cabbage instead of the red.  It looked and tasted bland - I felt like I was a cow chewing it's cud!!!  Oh well...tonight I made green pepper steak over brown rice.  Now THAT was good!  Even my hubby loved it and that's saying a lot!

Today I have a labor of love project for ya.  I wrestled and moaned and groaned over what to make lol!  Suzanne's SCACD Challenge for us this week is to create a Fall Themed Gift.  What do ya think so far?
This is Little Rose from the Victoria Case for SCACD mini Little Acorns Collection.  She's one of my faves in this adorable stamp set!

Little Rose is colored with copics:  Hair - E34 YR24 Y21; Skin - E11 E21 E00; Leaves - G28 G24 G21 G20; Clothes - E35 E33 E31; Rose - YR02 YR01 YR00.  Of course I had to add some Stardust Stickles to the rose, the rim of her acorn hat and a touch on her shoes!  The gold pearls in each corner were made with my FAVE Viva Decor Gold Paper Pen.  Well, the gold isn't my fave... ALL the colors are my fave lol!

Did ya notice the cute little gold key tucked away in the corner?  It's a Maya Road chipboard piece that I covered with Viva Decor Inka-Gold.  It was super simple to do!  This is a fabulous 'must have' metal gloss paint which can be applied with a sponge to many different surfaces.  Honestly, I just scooped a bit out with my finger and rubbed it over the chipboard - it worked great!  It's sooooo shiny hee hee!

Here's the inside!  It is the perfect size to hold all of the Scripture Memory Cards for our 12 week Bible Study with First Place 4 Health!  I'm tellin ya...it couldn't have worked out better if I'd planned the whole thing lol!  I will be giving this to a special someone in my class...  I hope she doesn't check out my blog before I give it to her!!!

Even though this project is supposed to be for Fall, you could change up the papers and color Little Rose in Spring, Summer or Winter colors!  Gotta love the versatility : )  And... obviously, Scripture is for ALL seasons!

So happy that you've chosen to stop by today.  I love it soooooo much when you let me know that you've been here : )

Please remember... this month is BREAST CANCER awareness.  I am a survivor and know full well the importance of regular checkups!  Don't let fear keep you from having a mammogram.  It literally saved my life!

I love you all ♥

May God bless you, keep you and comfort your soul ~

She's a Doll!

Hello my sweet friends!  It's another week already...  Last week, a virus decided to take up residence in my body and I'm just coming up out of the Kleenex and cough drop pile to turn on my computer!  I would like to say that I haven't been able to eat, but nope... that definitely wasn't one of the side effects lol!  BUT, I am happy to say that I've now lost 3lbs - yippppeeeee!!!  Aside from this yuck I'm getting over, I have to say that eating a balanced diet (and less of it...) has made me feel much better.  I have acid reflux disease which I take a prescription drug to control.  I'm sure that you are fully aware that stress doesn't help at all with our digestion and other body functions!  We've had a TON of stressful things in our lives the past few years, and quite often, I've had to take Pepcid AC in addition to my prescription.  BUT, I haven't had to take the Pepcid once since I began following the First Place for Health "Live-It" Plan 4 weeks ago!!!  It's so awesome : )

Do you like roses?  It's my favorite flower!  Even though my yard is a mess, and I don't prune the roses as often as I should, I'd be so sad if I had to get rid of them :(   Actually, a couple of years ago, we had a gopher who ATE two of my rose bushes - how rude!!!

Have you taken a peek yet at Elisabeth Bell for SCACD new mini release???  They are adorable I'm tellin ya!!  This image is called Rose Petal...isn't she a doll?
I am totally in love with this stamp!!!  It's a good thing that Susana has more in stock for you cuz I'm all over this one lol!  She's colored with my fave copics, of course... Roses - R85 R83 R81; Leaves - G28 G24 G21 G20; Hair - E34 YR24 Y21; Skin - E11 E21 E00.

Don'tcha love the shimmery rose petals?  I've edged each petal with Stardust Stickles as well as the rose petals on the flower pot.  When that dried, I gave the flower pot a nice thick coat of Diamond Glaze.  I wondered how the Stickles would react to the Diamond Glaze - not a problem at all! I'm not sure if you can tell from this photo, but it really has a nice depth to it.  I'll be doing this technique again for sure!  Oh... the 'other roses' are from Prima and one from Wild Orchid.  They also got the Stickles treatment!

This sweet dp is from the BasicGrey Olivia paper pad. cs is a combination from my stash and DCWV Glitter Matstack.  The pink cs was run through my cuttlebug with an embossing folder. The ovals were cut out with my nesties.  Gotta love my tools!!!

Did ya think that I made a card without my 'Must Have' paper pens?  They are subtle, but very much alive!  The sweet little pearls were made with my Opal Paper Pen.  LOVE my paper pens (is that like 100 times I've said that? lol!).  And last - well, besides the ribbon and cute little threaded button on top of the bow... is another subtle something I've added on this card.  It's kinda like Where's Waldo? hee hee... I thought this adorable image called for a doily, so I plopped one (how's that for a technical term? lol) behind the ovals for a subtle background.

***SALE TIME***

All Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps are 15% off until October 17!!!
Head on over to Susana's Custom Art & Card Design while they're still in stock!
*************
Thank you, my friends, for all the kind comments you leave!  I treasure reading each one!!!  I totally understand the time it takes to comment and you've chosen to leave me a piece of you here ♥  I am truly grateful : )

Until next time...

Turning Over a New Leaf!

Helloooooooooo!  Did ya miss me?  I've been absent... again.  I'm positive that I'm not the only one who's been super busy.  Why do things seem to pile up and then everything is an 'emergency'? lol.  I really don't like to operate that way.  I like things to be smooth and stress free, but I don't think that's a reality while I'm here on this earth!  Have I gotten glimpses of that?  Sure... but I think it's been during the 'pile up stages' hahaha!

Well, my puppy dog is still not doing well.  It's almost time to check in with the vet again.  He is in pain (he's been taking pain meds for a couple of weeks now) and doesn't have proper use of his hind legs.  Poor Sammy :(  I do hope that he improves soon - I don't want to think about the alternative.  He'll be just 4 years old in January - sigh...

On a happy note, I've lost... are ya ready?  Drum roll please... 1 lb!!!  LOL!  Well, ya gotta start somewhere.  Actually, tomorrow will be my next 'weigh in.'  I'm hoping that I've lost at least 2 lbs.  That's a good healthy way to lose.  If you lose more than 1-2 lbs. per week, you'll be losing muscle instead of fat.  At least that's what I've read.  So it seems that I'm pretty much on track.  That is unless I've gained - HORROR!!!  I've got to find me a weight loss widget : )

So... turning over a new leaf.  Yes indeedy!  I'm on my way to a healthier me.  This BRAND NEW image by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD is from the mini Sampler Edition #1 called 1st Leaf of Fall.  Lots of leaves to turn over here hee hee!

Our Try It Out *T* this week is to use an animal image with some fun products from Susana's store to create texture.  Where's the animal you ask?  You're looking right at her!  We humans are animals lol!  I know, I kinda cheated, but I really really wanted to use this super cute image!

I've colored her up with copics in the following colors:  Skin - E11 E21 E00 R20; Hair - E34 YR24 Y23 Y21; Pants - E35 E34 E33 E31 E30; Leaves - G20 E35 E34 E30 Y04.  You know I gotta have some bling... so I added Stardust Stickles to her pant cuff and pocket as well as the leaves.  For more texture and color, I used a combination of Citrus Crush and Toffee Ultra Fine Flower Soft amongst the leaves on the ground.  I really like the way it looks and it's so quick and easy to create this effect with Flower Soft!

The stamp does not have all the leaves you see here.  There are two leaves above her head in the actual stamp (see Here) - I inked up just the two leaves and added more... just because lol!  The rhinestone swirl is a portion of a larger swirl which was too big for the card so I just cropped it!  Then I colored every other rhinestone with E35 or YR24 - simple... I love how I can custom color embellishments with my copics!  How did I ever live without em?

Another must have product for me is Viva Decor Paper Pen.  I've used my Opal Paper Pen to make the half pearls in the corners.  Another oh so easy peasy technique.  I LOVE my Paper Pens!!!  Yes, I am a broken record.  I'll keep saying it cuz it's soooooooooooo true!

I finally remembered not to put the adhesive along the edges of the dp/cs so I could sew - yippppeeee!  I really like the look of stitching.  The last few cards I've made I kept forgetting - grrrrrr!  Sew... here's to many more lol!

Oh, in case you're wondering, the dp is by DCWV, Amber Autumn Fall Stack Collection.  All other embellishments are from my every growing stash...

So happy that you've stopped by!!!

May God bless you, keep you and comfort your soul ~
