Believe in Yourself

Happy Wednesday my friends!  Another week half over...  and just one more day until the winner of my blog candy is revealed - yay!!!!!

The weather here has been H-O-T!  Yuck!  I think this has been one of the busiest weeks I've had in awhile too.  I really don't like HOT and BUSY in the same sentence.  It just wears me out LOL!

I'm posting this a day early since I have a Try It Out Thursday project for ya tomorrow and I won't be home much in the next couple of days.  So today's card is for Paper Romance Challenge #5.  Our theme this week is "Red White & Blue."  Couldn't tell, could ya? hee hee...

I've used this cute High Hopes stamp from Paper Romance called Gertie, Millie & Hattie.  They are just so adorable decked out in their finest!  Amy also has a sentiment stamp (which I didn't notice before!) which fits perfectly with this image.  Chicks with Hat-itude - Gotta love it : )

ooooo sparkles!!!  I used my Quickie Glue pen and Glamour Dust on the bodies so they would stay white.  I LOVE Glamour Dust for that reason!  It's a super fine glitter that you can use alone, or you can add it to other products such as Flower Soft!  Now that I've found it, I can't do without it lol!  I also gave the beaks, legs and feet a nice coat of Diamond Glaze (another of my faves!).  It shines and gives more dimension to the image.  Background paper is called Simply Dots from Bearly Mine.  I love Donna's digi papers!!!  I'm not sure where I got the sentiment stamp... but it's backed by a Fancy Tags label from Spellbinders.

Red White and Blue

Hello my friends!  I just learned that one of my friends is leaving for a week long camping trip.  She goes every year with her mom, kids and best friend and her kids.  They've been doing this for the last 10 years.  Doesn't that sound like a ton of fun?  She said that they have special wine and food that they ONLY have when they go camping.  Such a wonderful tradition.  I know that there will be many hours of fun and laughter.  I need fun.  I need laughter.  I wanted to hide out in her camping gear, but she wouldn't go for it...  That's OK.  I make my own fun LOL!

This is the day the LORD has made

In six days, it will be the 4th of July.  I am signed up to work at the fireworks booth as a fundraiser for my church.  I'll be working a couple of hours this afternoon and then again on Thursday.  I hope we sell A LOT!  Do you celebrate on July 4 with a B-B-Q and fireworks?  Last year, we went to a friend's house for B-B-Q.  Hmmmm.... I don't know what we'll be doing this year.

Today I have a patriotic color theme going on for my Karen's Doodles US Challenge card.  I do not often use red on my cards, but I really like the red and blue together and white to 'tone it down' a bit!  This is Bigsby Juggling.  You can find Karen's digital image Here.

I've colored this lil' guy up with copics.  B06 B05 B02 B01 B00; C9 C7 C5 C3 C2 C1; R29, R27, R24 R22 R20.  Of course, I needed to add some bling!  I covered the balls and the die cut scallops with a nice coat of Glamour Dust.  I LOVE the transparency of this product!  The circles and scallop circle was cut out with my nesties.  The corner 'swirls' are from my EK Success Punch.  I cut off one of the swirls on the end that had two.  I think I like them better this way : )  Rhinestones are added on each end for more bling and dimension.

I used pop dots to layer the die cuts.  Take a look at the white decorative piece under the ribbon as well as at the top and bottom of the image.  Believe it or not, I actually followed through on Becca's tutorial and made a 'postage stamp' size of her Right Angle Punching Technique!  I made four of them (one is under the bow) and edged them with Ballet Blue SU ink.  I love this color blue which works very well with the digi paper from Bearly Mine.

Cool ribbon, huh?  I used my wonderful Bow Easy for the bow... LOVE this tool so much!  I don't know what I ever did without it!!

Happy Days are Here Again Blog Hop!

Today I've used Wish Upon a Star from the NEW RELEASE by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD Sampler Edition #5.  I LOVE this adorable stamp!  It was just begging for one of my fave prods, Viva Decor Glitter Liner in Hologram!!!  If you haven't picked up some of this stuff yet, you are missing out.  Just look at this sparkle and shine...

I've colored this lil' cutie pie with copics, stamped her a second time, colored, cut out and popped her up with pop dots.  The circle and scalloped circle were cut with my nesties...  The butterfly punch is (new for me) and is covered with Glamour Dust and rhinestones for more bling : )  I added some Color Me Crazy Flowers by Petaloo in the corner as well.  I left them white to go with my blue/yellow/white theme, but you could color them to match any project.  The jewels are already attached - how cool is that?  I think it adds just the right touch!

Here's the side of my altered tin.  I used Viva Decor Pearl Pen in Ice White for the 'pearls.'  This product is so quick and easy to use!  You can make the pearls any size - I just love it!!!  The border is punched with my MS deep edge punch.

Try It Out Thursday/CLP Challenge #27

7/1/10 Edited:  I posted this last week for TIOT #73...  The fab sketch is from Chelsea at CLP Challenge.  Won't you join us this month for CLP Sketch Challenge #27?

Hey There!  I've been working on a couple of things in my life lately.  Well, actually it's more like a ton of things, but I can only do a little at a time!  One thing is that I really really want to be on time.  I have a very bad reputation for being late - ugh!  I'm sure there is a reason why I think I shouldn't be early, but this late thing isn't working for me anymore lol!  God is healing me from the inside out and if He says that it's time to change, He surely will get the job done : )  The other thing is that I've been working hard to get ahead on all my DT responsibilities.  I am happy to say that things are rolling along pretty smoothly - a few bumps in the road, but for the most part, I am pleasantly surprised lol!  So, if you are feeling down about not having everything all together, let me tell you... first, you will never have it ALL together - but there IS hope!  It really does get better!!!  Be encouraged, my friend... God's mercy is NEW every morning!

And now, for my card today : )  I bet you thought I'd never get there hee hee!  Today is another Try It Out Thursday.  This week the Try It Out *T* girls were challenged to use weaving in our projects.  If you've been following Susana's Store Blog, you've noticed that there is now two Try It Out days.  The first is Tuesday, the second is Thursday so you get twice the inspiration!

This sweet image is 'A Puppy is Love' by Victoria Case for SCACD - Hearts and Hugs Summer Collection.  This is one of my faves cuz it has the adorable lil' puppies.  I LOVE doggies!!!  Can you believe that there is not one drop of Viva Decor Glitter Liner on this card? LOL!  You know how much I adore bling!  I did use a couple of products...  One is the Pearl Pen in Ice White which I used on the white scallops.  This is such a great product!  The color really is 'pearl-like' and saves a bunch of money!  Instead of buying package after package of pearls, I just use this : )  It's the same size as the Glitter Liner which is a big 25 ml bottle.  It also comes in cream as well as tons of other colors!

The second product I used on this card is Diamond Glaze.  Can you see how her eyes seem to shine and stand out?  I LOVE this product toooooooo!

This darling girl with her pups is colored with my fave copics.  Skin: E11 E21 E00 R20; Hair: E35 E34 YR21 YR20; Pants/Shoes: G28 G24 G21 G20; Puppies: E34 E33 E31 E30.  You can find copic bundles Here.  I used my rectangle and scalloped rectangle nesties to cut out and layer the image.

Buttons & Bows


We are now on our fourth Challenge at Paper Romance - Whooo Hooo!!!  Thanks to those who've joined us so far : )  We enjoy seeing what you create!

This week, Amy has challenged us to use buttons and bows on our projects.  Here's what I came up with:

I've used this FUN stamp by High Hopes.  It actually is in two pieces - Aunt Can't Canning Jar and Jar Topper.  I stamped with Memento Ink, colored the Jar Topper with copics (B34 B32 B00) and cut out.  To fill the jar with M&Ms, I stamped with various colors and punched them out with a very old circle punch  by Uchida.  The stamp is a little bit bigger than the punch, but this was the closest I had. So then I glued them in place and....

Covered the M&Ms with Diamond Glaze!!!  Yes!  I LOVE this stuff!  It gives 'shiny things' so much more dimension : )  The circle and scalloped circle are cut out with my nesties - I would be lost without these...  The flowers are from Petaloo called Color Me Crazy.  You could color these any color to match your project, but I wanted to keep them white so they would blend in with the background.  .  The sentiment is another 'oldie' I dug up.  My friend gave it to me years ago : )  It's by Annette Allen Watkins.  Oh, I also used my copic marker to color the thread I used for the buttons.  I love my markers!!!  Did ya notice the lil' pearls I added to two of the corners?  I used Viva Decor Pearl Pen in Ice White.  I am really lovin this stuff.  At first I was a little bit intimidated to put it directly on my card, but now I can do it with my eyes closed.  Oops... my nose just got longer hee hee!

Just a Whisper... I Forgot!

 *Second Post*  See below for Karen's Doodles...

Shall I send you a check now, or would you like to put it on my tab?  You didn't know that you were my therapist, did ya? LOL!!!  I simply can not tell a lie...  I forgot to post this card on Friday!  Really, I'm not that old yet!  I wonder what age 'that old' is - hmmmm...

Anyway, this is my last card for Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge (boo hoo...).  I want to say a huge 'Thank You!' to the F & F girls for putting up with me for so long!  It's been a very rewarding and FUN ride : ).  I'm so glad that it's not good-bye though.  With all this technology, I can connect with any of you in a moment's notice - that could be a good thing... or not! lol!

The challenge this week is "monochromatic and wings."  Oops... hee hee... where's the wings?
I am getting REALLY GOOD at making mistakes!  Aren't ya glad you're not me? lol!

Aren't these lil' cuties precious?  This stamp is called "Sweet Whispers" from the Victoria Case for SCACD Hearts and Hugs Summer Collection.  They are set on top of an embossed panel which I covered with Glamour Dust - I LOVE this stuff!  It gives a beautiful shimmer.  It is totally different than the Viva Decor Glitter Liner in Hologram (which I LOVE too, but for this card, I wanted the white to show through).  I think it gives a very elegant look : )

The image is colored with my fave copics, of course!  Hair:  E35 E34 YR21 YR20; Skin:  E11 E21 E00 R20; Dress and shoes:  C5 C3 C2 C1 C0.  You can find copic bundles Here.

Here you can see the textures and layers.  With a white monochromatic card, you really need to create texture in place of color and patterned paper...  I have to give credit to Suzanne Dean for the idea of this card.  Hers is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than mine, of course, but I was inspired by her 'white on white' card.  So, thanks Suzanne!!!

It's Time to Relax!

Happy Happy Monday, my friends!!!  It's time for another new week filled with adventure and excitement!  There is so much to learn and do... there is simply not enough hours in the day to do them all!  I bet you are not much different than me.  You either search for, or come across a tutorial that catches your eye.  You are 'wowed' by it and want to try it 'someday.'  I don't know how many 'somedays' have come and gone lol!!!  All in good time : )

Today's post is for Karen's Doodles US Challenge.  I've used the digi, 'Time to Relax.'  I could use some relaxing in the shade and some yummy lemonade!

I gave this card to my honey for Father's Day.  He liked it - yay!!!  I actually made a FUN mistake as I was opening this image on my computer...  Apparently, I had the blue gingham digi paper from Bearly Mine Designs open already, so the image opened on top of it.  You should have seen my face as that 'a ha' moment came to me!  How cool is that?  I didn't even have to cut around the image or anything.  It was ready to color with the background already there!  I LOVE it : )  If you are interested in knowing which copics I used for this card, please email me... I'm posting late and blogger is not cooperating - grrrr!!!!

I used my cuttlebug, embossing folder and oval nestie for the frame.  I think it's called tiny mosaics (???).  I wanted more texture and thought that this went well with the 'checks.'

I love this Scripture ♥  It is soooooo comforting : )

Try It Out Thursday

Surprise!!!  I made it to another Try It Out Thursday lol!  Remember last week when I posted that it felt like I was sitting with the cool kids (quote from Alex!)?  Well, I made it past the 'newbie' week without getting a wedgie or anything - how cool is that? LOL!!!  Seriously, the DT girls at Susana's Custom Art & Card Design are wonderful!  This week, we've been challenged to use Viva Decor on our projects.

I hope my photos turn out well so you can see just how sparkly this product is!  I used Glitter Liner - Hologram for the major bling, and Pearl Pen in Ice White for the embellished decorative corners.

This lil' cutie pie is By the Sea, one of the new Victoria Case for SCACD stamps in the Hearts and Hugs Summer Collection.  I wish I was tip toeing through the 'tulips' with her right now hee hee!  I used my oval circle and scalloped oval circle nesties to cut around the image.  Can you see how shiny the water is?  It's diamond glaze - I love this stuff!!!  It is so not intimidating to use.  Goes on smoothly and dries pretty quick (especially in this weather!).  To keep the tip from clogging, I use a pin to clean it out after use, pop the top back on tight and it's good to go for next time.  If you haven't tried it, you really should - it's FUN : )  It's one of my 'staples' you'll see me using over and over... 

Here's a close up of my 'larger than life' butterfly with the Glitter Liner.

I wanted to use my new Cricut cartridge Wall Decor and More cuz it has this really cool butterfly.  The problem I had was trying to cut it out in the size I wanted.  I tried one inch.  Nope, kept tearing the paper.  I tried one and a half inches.  Nope, kept tearing the paper!  I finally went up to two inches.  Can you believe that even after I successfully cut out ONE two inch butterfly, the next several times kept tearing the paper - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!  I am so NOT happy about that cuz the real reason I bought this cartridge was so I could use it for my cards.  Well, so the butterfly is a little bit big. It showcases the Viva Decor Glitter Liner very well LOL!  This is definitely another 'must have' in my craft supplies!

Oops... my watermark is covering the charm!  I used several jump rings to attach the butterfly charm and simply glued it under the bow.  Easy peasy!!!

Di's Digi Downloads

Hello my friends!  My heart is a little heavy lately.  Two people I love are scheduled for surgery on Wednesday.  One is to repair her shoulder, the other one is to remove some 'black spots' in her jaw.  The spots could be cysts which would be wonderful, but they also could be a recurrence of cancer.  God knows and will carry us all through.  I've gone through the valleys of cancer myself, so I can relate, but it's hard to see my son stand by his girlfriend while they wait.  If I know anything, I KNOW that Jesus HEALS!  Please pray that God would use this time to bring my son's girlfriend into an intimate relationship with Himself.

"God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."  John 3:16

This is an accidental, wanna be 'criss-cross' card lol!  I didn't follow the criss-cross card tutorial, but as I was creating, it sort of took on some of those elements...

This image was so quick and easy to color!  Copics used:  Pink - R85 R83 R81; Green - G28 G24 G21 G20; Gray - C1.  Copic bundles are available Here.  I used my nesties to cut out the circle and scalloped circle.  The decorative corners were punched out with Paper Shapers Photo Corner Fancy and topped with a gorgeous pearl!  The sweet, pink mini roses are from Prima; the leaves are punched with my MS punch.  Why don't they label those?  I think it's called 'frond.'  I'm not sure - that doesn't even sound like a name to me hee hee!  Oh, I used one more punch for the edge of the 'pocket.'  It's an embossing punch by Fiskars - another nameless tool ha ha ha ha ha!  Yes, I DO think the heat is going to my head : )

Tea with Grandma

It's another week... Happy Monday!  I'm not sure about the rest of the week, but the weather here in California today is HOT.  I know I've said it before, but I much prefer a nice comfortable Spring.  If I could have that kind of weather all year, I would love it!  Isn't that so 'us'?  We don't like to be uncomfortable or inconvenienced.  Oh well, it is during times of trial that we grow the most! (sigh)...

Today I get to have 'breakfast' at IHOP with my sister - yay!!!  I love IHOP.  I wanted pancakes the other night for dinner, but my DH never wants 'em.  He is a meat and potatoes kind of guy - actually more like meat and rice.  His favorite meal would be fried chicken with rice and gravy.  Just what I need to lose weight lol!  Well, except for the ice cream I had before dinner, I only had salad tonight.  Does it count if you have ice cream before you eat a meal?  hee hee! I was so HOT though - grrrrr!  It makes me so cranky.

I have a fun project to show you today.  I really like it!  I took my fave color at the mo, and paired it with an adorable image to create a bookmark.  Then, I decided that I needed a teacup card.  I just love teapots and teacups!  I could have drawn my own, but why?  Karen's Doodles already had one in the image Tea with Grandma.  I cropped it to frame the teacup, then enlarged it to create a card.  I love the pink polka dot paper.  It says, "FUN!"

Image is colored of course with copics...  Bears:  E35 E34 E31 E30; Cookies and wood:  E18 E17 E15 E13; Pinks:  RV 32 RV11 RV10 RV000; Greens:  G28 G24 G21 G20.  The rose and leaves on the teacup are enhanced with copics also.  Copic bundles are available Here.  Other than my paper trimmer, a pair of scissors and the QuicKutz dies, I didn't use any other tools!

Paper Romance Challenge #2

Today I have another challenge for you from the Paper Romance Blog.  Our very talented DT, Vicky, has challenged us to create a summer card or project.  Here's what I came up with:


I really wanted to have the image hanging from a branch, but I didn't have one... so I had to go with plan B!  My card just seemed to have a mind of it's own and this is what it turned into lol!  As I see it here, the tire is waaaaaaaaay too dark for the rest of the card.  Oh well.  Maybe I'll redo the image if I can pry it off the paper without ruining it!  This is yet another lesson for me to learn:  Do NOT wait for the last day to finish my card.  Did you see that I said 'finish'?  I did start it on Tuesday...

Try It Out Thursday

Good Morning, my friends!  Today is another day of firsts.  This is the first time I've had the privilege of playing with the amazing DT at Susana's Custom Art & Card Design Blog (SCACD)!  Yippee!!!  As my teamie, Alex, would say, "I feel like I'm sitting at the cool kids table!" Hee hee... I hope this isn't a dream and I wake up to find I'm still a nerd lol!!!

If you aren't familiar with SCACD Blog, each week the DT has a new technique or challenge to follow.  The team is split up into two groups, so you'll have double the inspiration!  Try It Out Tuesday/Thursday #71 (TIOT) for this week is to make a card or project for Father's Day.  To play along in the challenge, you may use any stamp that Susana carries in her store, SCACD.

I've chosen to use Lazy Days by Victoria Case for SCACD.  She is so versatile as you can see!  I would never have thought to use her for a 'man card'!  This is one of my fave stamps from the new Hearts and Hugs Summer Collection.

 Isn't she adorable?  I LOVE her to pieces : )

She's colored with my fave copics as usual.  Susana has copic bundles available at the store Here.  For her hair, I've used:  E35 E34 YR21 YR20; the 'blues' are:  BG05 BG02 BG01 BG000; the browns:  E59 E57 E53 E51 E50; the greens:  G28 G24 G20; skin:  E11 E21 E00 R20.  To make her eyes 'pop' I used Diamond Glaze.  It's so shiny!  I also gave her sandals and the heart under the computer generated sentiment a nice shiny coat of Diamond Glaze. Viva Decor Glitter Liner in Hologram is so incredibly 'blingy'!!!  You know how much I ADORE bling hee hee!  I had to sneak some in even though I don't think that guys care much about it...  I've lined the oval (cut out with my nesties Here) and gave the butterflies a nice coat of sparkle.  Have you tried Viva Decor products?  They are very easy to use and come in a nice big size!  LOVE it : )


... and last photo hopefully shows the shine in the Diamond Glaze lol!  I love how the heart pops out. It's like a puffy sticker!  Do they still make those?
