Double Duty with a Sketch and a Challenge

Happy Thursday my friends!  This is the day the LORD has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!!!

My youngest son's birthday was on Tuesday.  I was busy in the kitchen the day before baking muffins for breakfast and his favorite chocolate cake!  The muffins were yummy, but the cake was sooooo disappointing!  I'm blaming it on my oven lol.  It's been very temperamental for years... I've had to decrease the time and temperature on everything I cook.  This time was no exception, except... this time it didn't work.  The cake was DRY : (   Yes, I am definitely blaming the oven - bad oven!!!
On a happier note, tonight I get to go to Olive Garden - yummmm!  I'm telling myself that I don't need to eat everything on my plate as well as what's on the table lol!!!  I will indeed practice moderation.  Why?  Because for the last three days I've been eating Halloween candy... Dry Birthday Cake... other no-no's I need to stay away from.  The good news?  I've lost over 5 lbs.  The bad news?  I've gained some back (I'll find out for sure when I weigh in tonight...) *sigh*  Does this happen to you?  You work and work and work to lose 1 lb., then you smell chocolate cake and gain 2 lbs. instantly! grrrrr...

For my card today, I've used 1st Signs of Fall by Carmen Medlin for SCACD Reflections Set 1.  I know... this isn't exactly a Fall card, but isn't it pretty?  Suzanne's challenge for us this week at Try It Out *T* is to make a Holiday Card without using the traditional green, red, silver or gold.  Ooooops... where did that gold come from? lol!  I cheated a little bit, but I didn't mean to.  I didn't realize until after my card was done that I made a boo boo...
This card is also for CLP Challenge #31 and the FABULOUS sketch is by the very talented Chelsea.  I LOVE this sketch!!!  You have until November 30 to join in the fun at CLP Challenge : )

Isn't she lovely?  I've colored her with copics:  Skin - E11 E21 E00 R20; Hair - E49 E59 E25 E53; Dress/Boots - E18 E17 E15 E13; Coat - E50.  Just a teeny touch of Stardust Stickles on her coat pocket and the ruffles peeking out from the sleeves.  Oooops... there's the no-no gold pearls from Viva Decor Paper Pen and Inka-Gold distressing around the die cut oval!

Gorgeous Gorgeous papers are from Kaisercraft 'Tis the Season Collection.  LOVE these papers!!!  I have a new scroll die - yippee!  I don't think it's really new, but it's new to meeeeee...  I've distressed pretty much the whole card with Inka-Gold.  This is really cool stuff!

Challenges Entered:

It's been a very long day for me...  Time to go relax for a bit and head to bed!
Thanks so much for stopping by : )

May God bless you, keep you and comfort your soul ~

Love the embellishments on your card. The image is beautiful as well. I hear ya on just smelling sweets and gaining weight. I blame it on my youngest! LOL Hubby says but he's 4 now. Then I'll blame the teenager who started it all. LOL Thanks for sharing, and a little tip weigh yourself first thing in the morning. I do this once a week usually on Fri or Sat. before the weekends when I tend to be at different gatherings. I try to eat good during the week then let myself have the weekend off. Not a free for all on junk but if there is a party I don't feel bad about enjoying sweets.

Gorgeous card Lori, love the image and colours - even if you did cheat a bit lol :o)

Thank you for your lovely message on my blog... I know there would be no shame in me taking anti'd's and I know lots of people genuinely need them. It's just that my family is very much a 'pull yourself together' type, and I feel like I 'should' be able to cope without them. I'm probably making no sense lol. Bigs hugs! Lisa x
