I've Got a New Thing Going!

**Looking For Going Digital Blog Hop? See Post Below **

Happy Happy weekend, everyone!  I am grateful to have a day of 'leisure' - lol!  I am so looking forward to getting some serious crafting done.  Does that ever happen for you?  It seems that my good intentions turn into distractions and 'putting out fires' instead of relaxing with my beloved paper, copics and goodies!  I have a couple of stamps that I am itching to ink up and I also have some stamping to do for a swap!  Fun, fun, fun : )  These are the things that make up a great weekend for me.  It also helps if the sun is shining, but it's not hot.

I am at the place in my life where I have the dreaded hot flashes.  I had a complete hysterectomy 6 months ago, so I was immediately menopausal - ugh!  You know, it's not that bad though.  Here's a story that my DH thinks is SO FUNNY - not!!!!  When I told him that I was cold, he said, "Well, just have a hot flash."  Ha ha ha ha...do you see a smile on my face?  It would be much funnier if it was him we were talking about.  That would be hilarious - hee hee!

CLP = Crafting Life's Pieces.  Have you checked out this Monthly Sketch Challenge Blog?  Chelsea's sketches are so much fun!!!  You may have noticed that Chelsea had a DT Call awhile ago.  She now has completed that task and is ready to introduce you to her brand spankin new Design Team!  You should see the amazing talent she has all in one place!!!  Honestly, I'm still pinching myself because I get to create alongside these giants of creativity in blogland - woo hoo!!!  Such an honor... thank you so much, Chelsea!

Here's my card for May's Challenge #25 at CLP

This is Springtime Hannah with Butterflies. I won this stamp in a blog candy from Michelle at The Pixie Cottage.  Thank you, again, Michelle!  I love her : )  Isn't she the cutest ever?  I used foam dots to pop up the image to create a more layered look...

Here is my card:

I found a great tutorial from Jeanette on how to make this criss-cross pocket card.  What is that peeking out of the pocket?  Oh... you should see some of the adorable images that the Fairy Princess has cooked up for us!  This is called Mug of Love which is available for purchase at Prairie Fairy Designs.  I'm not sure how old the Fairy Princess is, but she sure is talented!!
Here's the card insert...  I thought the sentiment dangling from the handle worked pretty well : )  If you are not a coffee drinker, the contents of the mug could be chai tea!  I'm a Starbucks junkie - my latest is decaf misto.  Today I brought in my own mug and saved a whopping 10 cents!!!
The challenge this week at Fairy Fun Fridays is to use a twig!  Yes, you read it right.  Hee hee... I snuck it in quietly.  Pretty cool, huh?  At first I thought the mug needed a cinnamon stick (which sorta resembles a twig!) but I didn't have any : (   So, here's my plan B!!!

A Looooooong Overdue Post!

Ok... so here's my story:

I told you that I'd continue the saga, didn't I?  Leave it to me to goof up once again - lol!  Yes, it seems I've been getting REALLY good at it lately, huh?  At least I can say that I'm really good at something... hee hee!!!

So, last month I won a Guest Design Spot at Susie's Sassy Challenge.  Yay for me...  This was one of the digis I got to play with from Di's Digi Downloads.  Isn't she adorable?  I had so much fun creating this card!

This is Maisy Modern with Kaboodle on Swing.

She's colored with copics and cut out so she could swing freely!
So what's the goof up, you ask?  Well... this card was for Susie's last challenge which was posted on April 8!  I did get it to her early enough for her to post on the challenge blog, but did I remember to post it on my own blog?  Nooooooooo... goofy girl!!!  I'm only... let's see... only 19 days late.  Nineteen! Ooops!  Susie... I publicly apologize for my stupidity!  I am very sorry this is soooooooo late.

That's my story.  I'm sticking to it.  Now doesn't that make you feel better? lol!  Anything that you may have done to mess up surely can't be as bad as my boo-boos!

Hopefully, tomorrow I'll have a different kind of card to show ya.  I'm working on something new for me.  We'll see how it goes : )

Thanks for supporting me and loving me even through all my mishaps.  You are truly the BEST : )

May God bless you, keep you and comfort your soul ~

Happy Mother's Day

It's been another 'whew!' weekend...  It began on Friday with a very full day into the evening, then up again early on Saturday.  Master's Harvest & theWay Christian Fellowship was one of almost 500 churches hosting the Beth Moore simulcast, "So Long, Insecurity."  There were 300,000 women who gathered in various churches to view this simulcast.  How amazing!  I was blessed  : )  I thought when I got home that it would be hard to 'come down' from all the excitement, but almost as soon as I sat down, I began falling asleep.  I tried to stay awake for the next 7 hours (it was soooo hard!) - I probably was doing the head bobbing thing for awhile - hee hee!  Today has been better, but I'm definitely ready to hit the sack!  So why is it that it takes so much energy to have fun?  Huh, huh?  I'd really like to know that.

I am pretty much running on cookies tonight - lol!  My DH made some yummy chicken and rice for dinner.  That was a couple of hours ago.  I think my energy is simply powered by cookies - really!

On Friday, I helped my mom plant some flowers.  They look so good!  She chose some really pretty ones too.  I would love to have flowers in my yard.  The thing is that if I don't plant them and maintain them, it doesn't get done.  AND we've had a pesky gopher that kept eating everything I planted.  That made me so mad!  I decided that until I know that the gopher has gone to bother someone else, I wasn't going to waste money buying flowers.  Grrrrr!!!  Anyway, with the thought of the outdoors, birds and birdhouses, I made a Mother's Day card for my mom.  I hope she doesn't check my blog - lol!  I think she'll really like the colors and image.  Of course, she'd like anything I made...

Would you like to know the latest dumb thing I did?  For some reason, I thought that this sketch was the current challenge at Pixie Cottage.  I was so excited that I had followed their sketch and was getting ready to post for the challenge.  Where did it go?  I don't know WHICH week they had it, but it certainly is not the current challenge.  Duh...  I can't believe I did that.  But you know what?  I can still enter this card in Pixie Cottage's current challenge which is for Mother's Day or a Special Lady! Ha ha!

Dimensional foam dots behind image...  Dew drops were colored with B05 copic marker.  I LOVE having just the right color!  The yellow cs was too blah in some areas, so I made a 'stickles' design.  Since I needed to get this in on time, I had to take the photo before everything was dry.  The stickles are so much more sparkly than you see here...

It's time for another Karen's Doodles US Challenge!!!  This week we're looking for your projects for mom.  Be sure to check out the amazing talent the DT has to show you on the challenge blog also.  Here are the wonderful prizes you could win:
Wow... I wish I could play - lol!  So color up your favorite Karen's Doodles image and make a card for your mom or someone special for Mother's Day!  For those of you who have lost your mom...  I want to say, "I am so sorry for your loss."  May our Lord comfort you and surround you with His Love! xxx

I hope that you've had a terrific weekend, my friends.  I'll be back to continue the saga tomorrow!

May God bless you, keep you and comfort your soul ~

One Card, Two Challenges!

See post below for Prairie Fairy...

Are you glad it's Friday?  I am.  It's been a long week!  I feel like getting in my jammies and curling up with a good book.  I just might have a little time to do that tonight, but for now, I've got a zillion things to do - lol!

How bout you?  Do you have plans this weekend?  Saturday is a big day for me.  We are sponsoring the Beth Moore Simulcast, "So Long, Insecurity."  Have you seen this book in bookstores?  If you are in the Modesto, California area and want to come, the event is FREE (free will offering)!  Please call NOW at 209-602-4286 to reserve your seat.  Because lunch is provided, we'd like to know how many mouths to feed...  we don't want to run out of food!

Since I've been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off, I've had to combine a DT card for two different challenges this week.  Fussy and Fancy Fridays theme is Birthday - and also using something sweet.  i {heart} copics challenge #11 is to use two dps and color with copics (of course) three gems, brads, flowers or chipboard.  Can you tell which one I colored?

I'm not sure if I'll have time to find challenges to enter this week.  If I do, I'll edit this post!  So... I've given you three challenges today - surely one of them is perfect for that card you've been putting off.
Here's a recap:
Fairy Fun Fridays - distressing (but I didn't follow instructions... AGAIN!)
Fussy and Fancy Fridays - birthday, with a twist of using something sweet
i {heart} copics - 2 dps, and 3 gems, brads, flowers or chipboard colored with copics

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends  : )  I love you!!!

Always My Sister, My Friend

Today my heart is heavy...  I've read two updates on CaringBridge for Kate McRae (see link in my sidebar).  This little girl has gone through sooo much.  More surgery today.  Kate and her family needs your prayers!  Today also is a funeral for one of her friends who lost his battle with cancer.  Just a young boy...  We take so many things for granted.  What's really important is building and strengthening relationships!  Especially our relationship with Jesus!  He is our ONLY Hope...

Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for You are the One I praise.  Jeremiah 17:14

I have prayed this verse countless times in the past... God has indeed healed me over and over!  This is for you, Kate.  May JESUS comfort you and bring joy to your heart! xoxo

Now...how do I follow with a silly ol' card?  But, share I must!  This is Sugarplum Fairies from Prairie Fairy Designs.  I usually just glitter the wings, but this time I wanted to use some color.  Hmmm... not sure.  What do you think?  Do you like the wings better with color and glitter or glitter alone?  I've used the sketch from Sketchy Colors - #20

The challenge this week at Fairy Fun Fridays is DISTRESSING!  Ha... oops...  I'm so sorry, Roberta!  You should kick me off your DT!  Oh wait, I almost am off your DT - hee hee!!  I really am sorry though.  I blew it again... (sigh).  I'm gonna miss you A LOT!

Thank you for coming to visit me today!  I'll have another card for two different challenges later today.

Perfect for a Lil' Fairy

Mark it on your calenders!!!  It's true... I cooked today - ha ha ha ha ha.  No, really - it's funny!  I actually made chicken enchiladas.  Wow - yay me!  AND I completed my DT card for Karen's Doodles.  But, sadly... there is a but... I have to be up and ready to leave the house in the morning by 6:00 {gasp!}.  That's practically the middle of the night for me - lol!  Ok... this is a good challenge for me.  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me  Phil. 4:13.  (You know that I need a lot of strength, Lord!)  I'll let you know how it goes.  My DH, SIL and I are going to Georgetown which is about an hour and a half drive.  We'll have breakfast when we get there.  See?  Things are looking up already : )

I had soooooo much fun making this card.  A friend had asked me to make a card for her SIL baby shower.  I know, I know... this isn't technically a "baby" card, but it's the theme of the nursery, so it's perfect!  I can still "slap on" a baby sentiment before I give it to her.  I needed to get this in on time, so you are seeing the almost done version.  I still love the way it came out!

Today is another Karen's Doodles US Challenge.  We have a recipe challenge for ya this week:  2 dp, 1 ribbon, 3 brads/gems and a border.  Fun!!!  Please check out the rules on the blog and enter your creation.  Remember, there will be three prizes given away:
I've used Fairy Princess on my card today.  She is soooo adorable!  Gotta love that bling!!!

Come and Sit

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

I choose to rejoice.  I choose joy...

There are waaaaaay too many things in this world that are not worthy of rejoicing or for us to be happy about.  But God doesn't say to rejoice only when we feel like it.  We do it because He says so and only by His Grace - we are empowered to make that choice.  Try it, you'll like it - lol!  Go ahead and smile.  Even if you don't feel like it.  When we smile, things change within us.  Even if for a brief moment, smiling lifts our spirits.

I hope my card brings a smile to your face today.  This is Hannah's Heart, a High Hopes cutie-pie from Paper RomanceI've used the sketch from Friday Sketchers

Splish Splash!

Wow!  It's already #10 with Fabulous Friday Challenge at the i {heart} copics group on Paper Craft Planet!  It seems like it was just yesterday when we started.  Well, this week we are sponsored by Chicken Girl Designs.  I've used one of their new super cute digi images, Doggie in the Rain.

Super simple to create!  The stitching gives a little extra texture and the Diamond Glaze adds a slick surface to the raincoat and water.  I know, you can't really see it in this photo, but it's there!

For Your Birthday!

Hey there!  Just little ol' me again...  I hope that your week has been going well.  Today I see sunshine - yay!  We even have the backdoor open (gasp!).  As I am preparing this post, my DH is cooking.  Backyard on the grill we have some yummy smelling chicken cooking.  I cooked (if you could call it that - lol!) the past three days, so I told him that he could cook today.  He really is a good cook.  Much better than I will ever be!  You know what?  I am totally OK with that : )

Did you know that Prairie Fairy is having a Design Team Call?  You have until Midnight on Friday, April 16 to enter.  Winners will be announced on Sunday, April 18.  Roberta is the BEST Fairy in town, I tell ya  : )  Why not give it a try?

I have a totally FUN card to show you today.  I've used Gerry's Birthday Set.  This digital set comes from Prairie Fairy Designs and includes a giraffe, gifts and an adorable cake - which I obviously didn't use this time.

The challenge this week at Fairy Fun Fridays is to use eyelets and string.  I don't mind telling ya that I had a terrible time with this card.  It was one of those days that nothing was coming together.  This is the third image I colored...  It was my fault the other images didn't turn out.  They were UGLY!  The colors I used were really, really bad - lol!  I finally settled on this.  At least the colors complement each other!!!  The most fun I had was doing the eyelets.  That part went flawlessly - whew!
I finally planned ahead of time (because Roberta gave us this great challenge) where I wanted to place the eyelets.  I marked on the dp and hammered away!  Usually, I have the papers glued down and then realize that it's too late to include them.

...and here's Gerry!  Isn't he cute?  I love him all ready to party with his hat and big bow tie.  Don'tcha just want to take him home with ya?

You are an Angel

Rain, rain, go away...come again another day.  Can you tell that I love to sing? lol!  I honestly don't mind when it rains.  My only request is that it rains at night!  Well, today I plan to cut some fabric for a quilt with my friend, so I don't mind if it rains all day.  But can I order some sun for Tuesday?

I haven't quilted in a long time.  I still have a couple of unfinished quilts (yikes!).  One needs the backing, quilting and binding; one just needs the binding; and the one I'm making for me has been a long work in progress...I finished the applique on the blocks, but all the sewing needs to be done.  Oh well, I'll always have something to do - lol!

Today I've made a card featuring Karen's Doodles Angel.  She's a FREEBIE!  Isn't that cool?  Karen is so sweet and generous!  Thank you, Karen!
This week at Karen's Doodles US Challenge Blog there is a sketch for you to follow.  This was nice and easy - I really enjoyed putting this together.  Here's what you could win:

Y21 E31 E25
Digital Image:  Karen's Doodles - Angel
Glamour Dust:  DecoArt
Circle/Scallop Punches:  Paper Shapers
Pearls:  MS
Ribbon and button:  Michael's

Isn't she beautiful?  I love how the Glamour Dust sparkles!  This is the first time I've used it.  My sweet friend, Mandy, uses it all the time and I was searching all over creation trying to find it.  Well, I finally ordered it from DecoArt - yay!  But then, you'll never guess... I found it on the shelf at my local Michael's - grrrrr!  I looked and looked, but they never had it.  Then one day... there it was.  Oh well.  I'll probably never need it again cuz I bought 5 bottles - hee hee!

So that's my drama for the day.  I pray you are well and that the sun is shining down on you!

May God bless you, keep you and comfort your soul ~

Giggle...

Happy Sunday!  I can't believe that the sun is out one day and the next is cold and windy - brrrrrrrr!  I need my sunshine...  Well, today after church, I'm gonna curl up with my dogie and read a good book - well, uh... after I get my DT card done for Karen's Doodles.  Just when I thought I was caught up, something else comes up and I feel behind again (sigh).  BUT, I am still having fun.  I love creating and getting my hands inky and gluey.  Isn't it so much fun trying new products and ideas?

Today I've used the fab sketch (again) from Chris at Simon Says Stamp.  They are having a challenge on Paper Craft Planet Here.  You have until the 18th to submit your card using this sketch.  Come on, join in the fun : )

I chose to feature Bubble Bath Bradley on my card today.  He's one of the new High Hopes stamps from Paper Romance.  If you want to add this adorable stamp to your collection, head on over to see Amy.  She'll fix ya right up!

To distress and accentuate the polka dots, I used a sanding tool that looks like a short, wide nail file which was included in the Making Memories Tool Kit II from Michael's.  For the bubbles, I was pleasantly surprised with the Liquid Applique!!!  Until I was able to buy Liquid Applique, I tried puff paint.  It did puff up, but was a totally different consistency and I didn't feel that I had much control.  I highly suggest buying the Liquid Applique, especially for smaller areas.  I noticed that 7 Kids College Fund has a ton of colors to choose from and they are only $2.89 each.  Such a good deal, I think!

Big Birthday Hugs!

It's a Friday post on a Saturday...  did I mention that I've been making a lot of mistakes lately?  I am not kidding.  I used to be devastated when I did something wrong as a kid and even as a young adult.  It's taken me a lot of years to be OK with blowing it!  Of course, I don't want to make that a new habit - lol!  But when I do... oh well, pick up the pieces and keep moving forward.  I've discovered that the world isn't dependent on whether or not I do everything right - ya know what I mean?  So... if you've been like me, I encourage you to cut yourself some slack and receive God's grace to carry on.  There.  I feel better now - hee hee!

This is a card I created for two specific challenges.  The first is for i {heart} copics, Fabulous Friday Challenge #9.  The second is for Simon Says Stamp Challenge #4, both on Paper Craft Planet.  This is Chris' sketch (Simon Says Stamp) - isn't it awesome?  I had soooo much fun making this : )

It's Molly InStyle!

It's a beautiful (Fri)day in the neighborhood, a beautiful (Fri)day in the neighborhood...  won't you be my neighbor?  Does that ring a bell?  It's Mr. Rogers!  Don't tell me that you are not old enough to remember!  Yikes!  How funny it is when you remember random, useless information at the drop of a hat, but can't remember your address.  Noooooo, that has never happened to me - yet - hee hee!  But let me tell you a story about my sister...  Just kidding!

Today is Fussy & Fancy Friday Challenge.  Yippee!  The lovely and oh so talented, Mindy Baxter has cooked up this amazingly FUN sketch for us to follow.  Uh oh.  I wonder if I deleted that too... hee hee!  If you read my post from yesterday, you'll remember that there was an inspiration photo that was nowhere to be found.  Yep, my computer ate it - honest!
Here it is.  Isn't this sketch fab?  I reeeeeeealllly like it!  I definitely will be using this again.

And here we have Molly from InStyle Stamps.  Isn't she a cutie-pie?  Thank you, InStyle Stamps, for letting me play with her!  She fits perfectly with the pink, white and black theme.  She's been shopping and even has energy to burn!  I wonder what crafting goodies she has in those bags?  I could give her a long list I tell ya!

Diamond Glaze:  eyes and shoes
Atyou Spica Pen:  Silver
Stardust Stickles
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder:  Textile
MS lace border punch
Nesties:  oval

Here's a view so you can see what I did with the Stardust Stickles.  I got brave and made my own design on the white strip.  It just looked so blah being plain ol' white, so I gave it a little bling!  So tell me, do they actually make nesties that I could cut 1/4" bigger?  Again, I traced the size I needed and cut it out with scissors (don't look that close...).  I have gotten so used to these wonderful Nestabilities, I get cranky when I have to cut something out with scissors - hee hee!

Challenges Entered:
Simple Doodles - Layers
Kaboodle - Digi Girl

So now that you've heard me whine long enough, pop on over to the Fussy & Fancy Friday Challenge where you'll see tons of delish inspiration from the girlies!

Have a wonderful weekend, my friends!  Maybe I'll actually get my act together and take a photo of some goodies I've been storing up for ya...  Soon - I promise!

May God bless you, keep you and comfort your soul ~

In the Garden

Oh... yesterday was sooooo beautiful!  The sun was shining, the temperature was perfect.  I even went for a bike ride with DH!  I'm thinking that today will be just as nice.  Not too hot, not too cold.  I love Spring!  It is my favorite time of the year.

Tomorrow is Fairy Fun Fridays Challenge, but I have two other cards I need to post, so I'm posting this a little early.  We have an inspiration photo for the Challenge this week.  You'd think that this would be a good place to insert that photo, wouldn't ya?  Ok... so here's my story.  It all started when I was just a wee little babe.  I wouldn't do that to ya :)  The real story is that I deleted it.  How boring is that?  Oooops!  I just keep making mistakes.  I'm gettin reeeeeeeal good at it too - lol!

I do have a card to show ya today.  At least I didn't delete that, thank goodness!
I've used the fab digi image from Prairie Fairy Designs "In the Garden".  Isn't it gorgeous?  You'll just have to believe me when I tell you that this card has inspiration photo written all over it - ha ha!  In case you need to see to believe, head on over to Fairy Fun Fridays to see what Roberta and the DT have cooked up using the (invisible) photo as inspiration...

It may look like I've placed the nesties cut oval on top of the dp, but actually, I cut the oval from the dp and placed the image behind it - like a picture frame.  The rim around the oval was achieved by cutting the oval shape as usual, but then I left the die in place and traced around the outside edge.  I carefully cut the thin "rim" and glued on top of the dp.  Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink was used around all edges.  Maybe you have an easier way to frame the oval.  I'm all ears!  Tell me your tips and tricks.  I only have one set of ovals though...

Challenges Entered:
Creative Card Crew - Vintage
Cute Card Thursday - Mono Mania

That's it for me today.  Thank you for stopping by and saying "Hi".

May God bless you, keep you and comfort your soul ~

Paper Romance Blog Hop

For Karen's Doodles Challenge and Blog Hop Winners, see post below...

Second post for today:

Hop into Spring!

Amy's doing some Spring Cleaning over at Paper Romance and is passing on some sweet deals for you and we're having a blog hop to celebrate!

Make sure you visit all the DT's Blogs and leave some comments, one random winner participating in the Hop (the winner could be from any of the blogs!) will win a $20.00 Gift Certificate to Paper Romance.

If you didn't start at the beginning, you may wish to head on over to Cindy's blog so you don't miss any of the fun!  If you came from Angela, you are right on track.

This is my project for ya today.  I've used Ally Rose - a sweet High Hopes stamp from Paper Romance.  Isn't she a doll?  I decided that she's just the right size to adorn this cute little acrylic container I found at Michael's.  Easy Peasy... I inserted some pretty paper on the inside of the container and glued Ally Rose on top of a ribbon ledge on the outside.  Added some bling, flowers, more ribbon on the top and voila - all done : )  I actually made all four sides the same so I could see it at any angle.  I was planning to fill this with some goodies for Easter, but this weekend has been crazy busy so I didn't get time.  I'm sure I will have another opportunity to give this away!

I'm entering this project into High Hopes Challenge - anything but a card

If I had double sided paper, it could have been even easier... but of course I had to use THIS paper, so I had to make panels to fit on the inside.  I wanted it to look pretty on the inside too!

More Paper Romance News:  We have had to say goodbye to Niki (sniff, sniff...) as GDT for March.  She is already missed and her work was beautiful!  Thank you, Niki!!!  This month, we have the lovely and talented Suzanne Dean as our Guest Designer!  Unfortunately she was unable to participate in this Hop, but you will see her fabulous work for Paper Romance on her blog tomorrow.  We all welcome Suzanne with open arms : )

Remember to leave a comment before you go... and when you are finished, you need to hop on over to see what amazing creation Vicki has for you!
